Chris Harrison, the U12 Manager and County Assistant Manager, spoke of the match highlights by saying that the ''Hampshire boys showed such amazing camaraderie, supporting each other- without having to be asked- once their individual matches were completed. All of the lads gave it their absolute all, which is all we really asked of them. This team unity really showed their dedication and love for the sport and playing for their County. This is what we are determined to build for the future because these guys will likely be playing together for a few more years to come!! It was great to see- real hair on the back of your neck stuff!''
A few performances of note from the Manager-
Henry Atkinson:
Going out first, Henry set the tone for Hampshire with a commendable performance. He secured a victory against one of his opponents and halved the match with another, earning valuable points for his team early on in the match.
Ollie Blunn:
Second to tee off, Ollie demonstrated outstanding skill and composure. He secured both points available in his matches, one of only two players in the team to do so, contributing significantly to Hampshire's overall score.
Isaac Haunstrup:
Following in Ollie's footsteps, Isaac also won both of his matches. His consistent play and strategic approach were crucial in keeping Hampshire competitive throughout the event. It seemed at points that Isaac had ice in his veins as despite being 4 up at one stage, his opponent fought back and took Isaac down the last hole. Isaac played the hole perfectly, almost chipping in from the fringe of the green to secure a par and win his match. Incredible stuff.
Others who contributed to the points total were Charlie Ship who held his nerve to win on the 18th and Alfie Hill who really dug deep to claim a half on the 18th.
Match Summary:
Despite the tough competition from Sussex and Surrey, the Hampshire team displayed resilience and a positive attitude. Every player gave their best effort, and their performances were a source of pride for their coaches and supporters.
Although Hampshire finished in 3rd place, the experience gained and the bonds strengthened during this match will undoubtedly benefit the team in future competitions.
