After a stellar year of golf, the Hampshire Under-16s rounded off their season with a silver medal at the South East Group Final, coming up just short against strong opposition from BB&O and Norfolk.

Having battled their way through an excellent season to reach the final, Hampshire faced BB&O and Norfolk in the 18 hole, triangular match. Despite a determined effort from the team, they were beaten 5.5–2.5 against a strong BB&O team, leaving their hopes of winning the title hanging by a thread.

The Hampshire boys responded in the best possible way in their other match against Norfolk. Showing great character, they secured a 5–3 victory to finish the day with one win and one defeat.

That result was enough to secure Hampshire the silver medal, a fitting reward for what has been an outstanding season for the Under-16 squad.

U16 Manager Dave Porter was naturally disappointed not to finish the season with the title, but was immensely proud of the way the players conducted themselves throughout the final.

The result caps off a fantastic season for the Hampshire Under-16s, who can look back on a year of strong performances, development and plenty of memorable team golf.

With a talented group of players continuing to develop within the Hampshire pathway, the future looks bright for the next generation of county golfers.
