At the start of the day Oscar O'Herlihy (Basingstoke) was leading Alan Mew (Stoneham) by 10.5 points, and with 15 points available to the winner of the Autumn Open it was possible that Alan could overtake Oscar if he won the event and Oscar did not finish in the top ten.
As it turned out, Alan finished in joint 3rd place and Oscar finished 2 places behind in 5th place. This meant that Alan could only close the gap by 2.5 points, leaving Oscar to run out as winner of the Order of Merit by 8 points. Oscar's fine performances in the early OOM events, winning both the Spring Open and the Seniors County Championships made him very difficult to beat - congratulations to Oscar. Gary Prince from Brokenhurst Manor - winner of the OOM in 2021 finished 3rd.
