Basingstoke Golf Club hosted the County First Team in an eagerly anticipated fixture, with both sides producing a competitive and closely fought contest.
The foursomes matches finished 2-2 after a roller coaster of emotions, with leads changing hands left right and centre and set up an exciting set of singles.
Despite a determined performance and some excellent individual results, including a resounding 7&6 win from County Champion- Joe Buenfeld as well as a do or die come back from Sam Parsons who eventually won on the 18th green, the County team came up just short, with Sussex securing a narrow 6.5–5.5 victory.
The match was played in great spirit throughout, with players from both teams enjoying a challenging test of golf and excellent hospitality from the host club. While the result did not go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance as the team continues its preparations for the remainder of the season.
Our thanks go to Basingstoke Golf Club for hosting the fixture and to all players who represented the County- you can view the final scores by clickingHERE
